The Krah

Age, location, education?
Brought up in Europe's most ancient city where the Mediterranean heat makes people go mad smash plates for fun and say opa opa! In Athens, the Acropolis (symbol of democracy) is hardly visible from the clouds of pollution, the police make their presence with violence, riots in protest happening all the time. The Orthodox Church is hypnotising the masses and the army is mandatory. We say malaka in every sentence and like 2 drink cold coffee. Now I am 29 and have been living in the UK for so long that I am used to the rain! I miss the madness and chaos of home but have swapped it for the manic metropolis of London. I studied Fine art, hedonism and illustration at University.

How long have u been living there?
I have been living in London for about 3 years now.

Where do you get your inspiration?
I like to see the world around me I absorb what ever I see store it in my sub-conscience and then when I lose my self into my drawings everything comes out. By mistakes I do in my sketchbook, it seems that scribbles are the way forward. Beer helps too.

What's your favourite color?
black like the deepest darkest pit in hell is my favourite colour, it stands out more that all the others if you had them all together, creating outlines and shaping forms.

When are you the most productive?
Most definitely at night, I'm a nocturnal type of guy especially if there's a full moon

Where is your favourite vacation-spot?
When I go travelling I prefer going to visit capital cities of each country and leave my mark. I am attracted to the disorder of the urban life style. Beaches are for pussies.

What kind of music do you like?
A bit of everything, from punk to breaks.

Any exhibitions planned this year?
I have to shows on at the moment hire in London, lots of group shows coming up and a big 1 coming up back in Athens in the Spring. Keep an eye out athttp://www.flickr.com/photos/the-krah/ For updates and more info about my upcoming shows.

What is your favourite material to work on?
I feel like I always to better work on the streets... I love the run down walls with tags in the background in rough neighbourhoods. I also love collecting found materials of the streets such as wood or metal and re-paint them in my studio; I find it more interesting than the traditional canvas. Old abandoned factories make me very excited (I am a sad sad boy)

What are your tools? (special pens, colors etc.)
I use spray cans, markers, ink, paint brushes, stencils a mix of everything. I always like to experiment with new materials and techniques its evolution you can't just tick with 1 way of painting, if you do it will just get boring, you'll be boring, and no one will like you.
