How long have u been living there?
about 3 and a half years
Where do you get your inspiration?
Lots of places I guess. Things I might see, especially in nature, lyrics to a song, conversation, stories. I think a big inspiration is the creativity and imagination of children where anything is possible. Unfortunately most of us loose most of that as we grow up.
What's your favourite color?
burnt umber mixed with a little cadmium yellow
When are you the most productive?
when I have a deadline to meet. Also when I drink a bunch of coffee
Where is your favourite vacation-spot?
My best vacation memories are probably from Cape Cod, where my Great Grandparents lived. I also love Lake Tahoe in the summer
What kind of music do you like?
I love music, I am constantly listening to music when I am working, driving, partying, even sleeping. I like pretty much everything and am always searching out new music. All time favorite would have to be Bob Dylan. Some new stuff I have been checking out lately: The Lumineers, Wild Child, Shakey Graves, Of Monsters and Men, J. Roddy Walston and the Business,Thomas and the People...there's just so many!
Any exhibitions planned?
I will have a few pieces in the enormous G40 art summit amongst some truly amazing talent. http://artwhino.com/exhibitions-1/2012-g40-richmond
I will have some pieces in Urban Decay III in Virginia. And I am going to do another solo show at the gallery I show with here in Austin, The Austin Art Garage, this summer. http://austinartgarage.com/. I am doing a 365 project where I do a drawing every day for a year. When that is done I will have a show with all of them. gf-drawingaday.tumblr.com I am also going to have an exhibit in the Museum of East Texas later this year. It's my first museum show so I am pretty excited!
What is your favourite material to work on?
I flip flop between doing oil paintings on wood panels and pen and ink drawings with washes on coffee stained paper. Right now I am in full on paper mode.
What are your tools? (special pens, colors etc.
For the paper pieces I use 100% cotton printmaking paper. It's thick, soft and absorbant. I then stain it with coffee. The ink work is done with an old style crow-quill pen that I dip in Black Magic ink. The rest is all pretty standard, brushes and paints and what not.
