Gavin Strange

Age, location, education?
25 / Born in Leicester, UK but now living in Bristol, UK / Went to college and did a BTEC National Diploma in Graphic Design but that was it, I didn't go to university in favour of getting a job in the industry!

How long have u been living there?
I've been living in Bristol for nearly 2 1/2 years now, I moved here October 2005 and have never looked back since!

Where do you get your inspiration?
Oh man from all over! There's SO many talented cats out there, I only have to look on my Flickr contacts photostream to get inspired, the internet is the best for getting your creative juices flowing! Aswell as that, there's the ol' classics of books, magazines and things like that - The Upper Playgrounds 'The Run-Up' DVD is one of the most inspirational things I've ever seen for sure!

What's your favourite color?
Ohhh good question... ermmm, Green I think... or pink, or black. I can't decide really, I don't really have one I could choose, I love pretty much all colours (apart from purple, I hate purple)

When are you the most productive?
During the daytime, definately. I'm not a night owl at all - I work late but I don't work as productively as I do when it's nice and light outside!

Where is your favourite vacation-spot?
Infront of the Xbox! Nah, erm Italy is beautiful, had a really nice holiday there. I don't get away enough though, to be honest!

What kind of music do you like?
All kinds, im a big sucker for music. Rock, Hip-hop, metal, motown, beats, electronica - I'm into pretty much anything apart from pop music! Hip-hop is a big influence on me too (proper hip-hop though, none of this cookie-cutter bullshit you hear in the charts!)

Any exhibitions planned this year?
Yes indeed! I've got one coming up in just 2 weeks time! I run an arts collective called Xynthetic and we've got a 'mini arts tour' happening at 3 galleries across the UK and our second show in Nottingham is coming up on the 21st March so we're all busy preparing for then.
Once the 3 Xynthetic shows are done I've got the launch of my vinyl toy coming up at Go Go Plastic! store in Birmingham at the start of May, so that's going to be really excited!
Who knows what the rest of the year will bring!?

What is your favourite material to work on?
The computer I think! Either the Mac or with a nice medium black pen in a nice solid sketchbook!
