I've been living in Charlotte for 4 years.
Where do you get your inspiration?
When I was working in NYC I was hugely influenced by the post-up scene there. Now, it's more about being inspired by other artist. Their are so many great artist out there on the internet that you can get lost for hours looking at inspiring art.
What's your favourite color?
Blue, but all shades from purply to teal!
When are you the most productive?
When I have time. I used to be most productive in the early morning but now it's more of whenever I have time. I work in small bursts.
Where is your favourite vacation-spot?
Hawaii, Maui specifically. I've been there three times and it's the only vacation spot I didn't want to leave after 3 days.
What kind of music do you like?
Indie rocks stuff, Big Elliot Smith fans and also like, Yeah Yeah Yeah's, Sleater-Kinney, Decemberists, and a host of others.
Any exhibitions planned this year?
I'm involved in a group show at called "Infinity Squared" at Distinction Gallery. It opens in December and there are some great artist on the bill.
What is your favourite material to work on?
Wood, hands down. It takes a beating. I do a lot of collage in my work and it's an easier process working on a hard surface. I've tried using canvas in the pass and it's a battle to keep things flat.
What are your tools? (special pens, colors etc.)
I primarily use acrylic, lots of paper and glue. I also sometimes use smashed beverage cans as a canvas. I've posted a tutorial that explains my whole process at http://www.rikcat.com/2007/03/07/painting-techniques-smashed-cans.html
