I'm 24 living in Glasgow, Scotland but moved up to Dundee for Art College studying illustration, once I finished that I moved back to Glasgow after that.
How long have u been living there?
I was born in Glasgow and moved to Dundee at the age of 17 but for the past 3 years I have been back in Glasgow.
Where do you get your inspiration?
I have built up a good collection of a variety of art based books from skateboard art to the works of Egon Schiele, and obviously a quick fix for inspiration can be sorted by browsing the net and from this it?s easy to find some amazing artist that haven?t yet made it into books or magazines. You can see that my environment inspires me to create many of my paintings. But there is no better inspirational material at the moment than Upper Playgrounds ?The Run Up? DVD, you just have to watch Mr Cartoons section to get totally inspired.
What's your favourite color?
It used to be Yellow and I even bought a yellow car but yellow attracts bird shit as my car and a yellow hoody I used to have found out on a regular basis so I sold the car and gave away the hoody. I have always like black and white, simple but effective.
When are you the most productive?
If I have porridge for breakfast and a good number of cups of tea through out the day then I find my productivity lasts a good while, I?ll work late if needs be but I need my bed other wise I?m a mess the next day.
Where is your favourite vacation-spot?
I love going to Austria to hit up the slopes whenever I can, Switzerland is great also for snowboarding/skiing. I love New York though, there is a vibe that always makes me want to go back.
What kind of music do you like?
I listen to a lot of music as I work and my CD collection has a variety of Rock, Hip Hop and Electronica. I listen to stuff like Led Zeppelin, Blondie, The Wu, Anticon, DJ Shadow, DJ Krush basically stuff that isn?t on the radio cause usually that stuff is all garbage, I?m not a fan of the bands that get played or the commercial hip hop pish they play.
Any exhibitions planned this year?
I have already been involved in 3 shows so far this year including a solo show of new paintings in Glasgow. I?m part of an art collective called Xynthetic and we have got 3 shows this year, a mini art tour in 3 different cities and the next show is just round the corner. Once they are done I hope to be a part of a show in Edinburgh later in the year. So much seems to have happened in the first few months I look forward to see what is going to happen next.
What is your favourite material to work on?
I used to work on canvas but hated how it warped making the painting wrinkle so now I work preferably on MDF.
What are your tools? (special pens, colors etc.)
My weapons of choice include my trusty craft knife and cans of Montana Gold with my I-pod playing in the background to keep me going is all I need.
